RECIEVED PAYMENT VIA FRIEND PAYPAL PENDED IT NO RELEASE DATE

My PayPal acct has worked for other payments today and for some reason it said paypal was looking into the payment via email and it was pending and they would release it asap. It's a complete legit payment how long will this take?
