Is it just me or does anyone feel that pre approved payments are wrong.
I've had a company (Airbnb) take money from my paypal account without my consent for a booking that wasn't mine. While both companies agreed the money would be refunded, it was taken from my credit card linked for payments and had taken me almost to my limit for that card. As I was away and using that card for security, I was suddenly unable to use that card.
Thankfully my partner was with me and I could transfer money from my bank account to her for use of her credit card, however, what would have happened had I been on my own. Potentially I could have been stranded.
I'm aware this is an extreme case but why do paypal insist on setting up pre approved payments for every company. Sometimes I may only wish to pay them once and that's it.
