Pitney Bows...insane hidden charges

Purchased a small item on ebay, instantly paid by PayPal seller for the item and for its packaging and shipping. Several days later it has come to my attention that some random third party called Pitney Bows has charged me a large additional sum out of the blue sky for reasons unknown to me. How do I fix this, how does one make sure not to fall in the same trap again? Sincerely and respectfully, Antony

Thats why then, if you import an item into your country then you often have to pay customs charges.

What pitney bowes does is take that charge directly from your paypal account instead of the post office having to collect it from you when they deliver your item.

No different than paying a customs charge when you come back from holiday and have to declare any imported items with the receipts etc.
