Pending authorization

I made a payment to ebay through paypal, according to ebay, the payment failed immediately and the item has been sold out. But paypal is holding my money saying "authorization in progress" you payment will be charged when the transaction is completed.. but there is no such transaction on ebay as it failed immediately, and the item already sold out

When you pay a company (rather an individual), then it is often pending until that company processes your order and captures the pending payment.

If they don't process that order and capture the pending payment then the pending status times out at 30 days post-payment.
