How long will paypal hold a pending authorization for gas when I didn’t end up pumping any gas

The gas should void the authorization if no gas was charged. If that didn't happen, then it depends on the banks. It could be up to 29 days, but in most cases I see 3 - 10 days.

Sorry I can't give a more definitive answer, but it really is a wide range depending on the banks involved.
