Paypal balance on purchases

I do NOT want to use my Paypal balance on purchases to non-profits. When I go to change that, it states that it will use my Paypal balance and the remainder on my credit card.
I want to ONLY use my credit card, not touch my Paypal balance.

Welcome to PayPal community. 

You can set your credit card as your preferred payment method for your online and offline payments. 

From your computer, here's how to change your preferred payment method:

1. Click Wallet.
2. Select your payment method from the left side of the page.
3. Click Set as preferred.

From your PayPal app, here's how:

1. Tap the Settings icon at the top right.
2. Select Payment Preferences.
3. Tap Online purchases to see which payment method is your preferred one (it will have a check mark next to it).
4. To change it, simply tap the new payment method.

I have my credit card as my preferred payment already. The problem is that Paypal will use my balance BEFORE using my credit card when I donate to a non-profit.
