How do I have sender switch from buyer to family and how lonh does it take to refund it to them so they can send it again

If you're selling, you're not supposed to ask buyer to use friends and family option. This is fee avoidance. PayPal could suspend the ability to receive/send friends and family payment on your account.

Otherwise, if this is supposed to be a personal payment, you must refund the money and issued refunds go back to the original funding source. Arrival times may vary:

- Bank payments, 3-5 or 5-7 days, depending on your bank. 

- Cards, about a week, up to 30 days depending on your issuing card. 

- PayPal balance, fairly instant. 

- Split payments between PayPal balance and card/bank, see above.

Then sender has to resend as friends and family at their earliest convenience.
