Payment with not enough money on my Paypal

Hi everybody,

my question is, what happens if I buy something, which price exceeds my Paypal balance and the balance of my attached credit card as well?

Will Paypal use first my Paypal balance and for the remaining amount the balance on my credit card? With other words the payment will be done through the combination of my Paypal account and my credit card? I'm asking this, because I bought something in a webshop and just realized that the price was higher than my Paypal balance, but the transaction went through and my PayPal balance was empty after that.

Yes, this is the correct process when purchasing items through Paypal. We will always check your PayPal account balance first. If there are insufficient funds on your PayPal account balance, we will request the remaining amount from your back up funding source.
