Payment through smash.gg not going through

I've been trying to register for an event that will be happening in a week from now. The page in which I'm trying to request the payment is this:

The paypal payment option is not working and this message pops out.

The event is in England and I am from Greece. I've already checked in with my bank about the integrity of my card and everything is fine on their end. They also mentioned that no paypal requests have been sent their way even though I definitely made the payment request on the smash.gg page by logging into my account through the pop-up window that appears when I select the "pay with paypal" button and requesting payment.

I've already contacted the site's support and the event organizers support email, waiting on a response from them. Any info from your side would be greatly appreciated since there's not much time left for registering.
