Paying without a Credit/Debt Card or linking to a Bank account

Hello Paypal Community!

I have a question. I am trying to purchase a virtual item from a merchant and do not have a credit/debit card or have my bank account linked to my account. When I tried to purchase this item, I was brought to a screen to add a card. Is there any way to purchase this item without linking a bank account or a credit/debit card?

I'm sorry to hear that you're prompted to add a payment method for this transaction. If the transaction is with a merchant who requires a billing agreement, a payment method would be needed for establishing the agreement. There may be other factors as well, but that's the most common factor. I'm afraid that if you are prompted to add a card or bank, one would be necessary for completing the transaction.
