Hi everyone,
I recently took an online class which cost 10 euros. Is it normal that the teacher got taxed and received less than the 10 euros i paid her? When selecting what kind of transaction i was making, instead of "friend" (which paypal was going to charge me $5 in fees for!! I selected" Item of service", since i am paying for a service (a class). The teacher said none of the other students got asked to pay any fees and that she didn't get taxed either when she received their money. What's going on? Is it because i paid with a US card instead of a Euro card (the class was in euros) that there are these extra fees/taxes?
Thanks!

May be the others were located in the same country as the teacher, paying with same currency by friend option.
Yes, it is normal when paying for item or service, the receiver will pay a fee.
If you send a international ‘friend” payment, PayPal will charge you the fee.
Sending domestic personal transactions
