Not receiving payments on a new account

My friend recently set up a PayPal account and she was sent a payment by her friend, however this payment has still not appeared in her PayPal balance. What could be the issue? Thanks in advance

1. What country is she in?

2. Has she checked the email address to make sure there was no spelling error?

3. Has she verified her email address?

4. Were the funds sent in her currency or another?
