I had a monthly subscription billing to my preferred method of my credit card. I noticed a post to my bank account and attempted to contact merchant. They did not change anything on their end. I tried contacting PayPal through resolution center and they viewed it as a billing dispute and kept replying "decided in seller's favor". I was not looking to refund the payment or dispute the amount. I just wanted to determine why the payment source was changed without my consent. Luckily I has enough money in my checking account to cover the payment.

Check your Automatic Payment setting for the subscription bill:
Go to Account Settings (gear icon) > Payments > Manage Automatic Payments
Select merchant on left, click Pencil icon on the right, near funding source.
Also check your preferred payment method prefs to see if correct:
Account Settings (gear icon) > Payments > Online Purchases > Change
PREAPPROVED PAYMENT PLANS:

AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_manage-paylist

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thank you for the details, I wish PayPal would have replied with this information.
I actually have everything set correctly and all the previous month's shipments were billed to my preferred method credit card with no issue. The retailer and I did not change anything since it was on auto shipment. PayPal changed it to my bank account and has not explained why.

Hi @maggadoo,
I'm sorry to hear that your credit card was not used for a subscription payment. If the card was not approved at the time of the charge, it appears another payment method was used as a backup. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
