My customers are not getting confirmation of their purchase

My customers are contacting me to say they've not received any notification of their purchase from my website. Can anyone tell me where on settings I can correct this please? Paypal are closed now otherwise I'd be calling them.

Are you using PayPal's web payment standard products (which does not require you to have your own automated order confirmation emails sent out to your customers as PayPal takes care of that, albeit the occasional email glitch) or their APIs? If using APIs, please make a post in the appropriate section at the Merchant Integration Technical Support Community forums.
