Money taken from account but not sent to receiver

I sent money to someone I was buying shoes of however nothing has shown up on paypal but money has been taken from my account.

Hello @PeterJessop18, 

Are you showing the payment in the Activity of your PayPal account? If so, what is the status of the payment? If the status is 'Unclaimed' this indicates that either the seller doesn't have their email address confirmed or they need to accept the payment on their side. 

If the payment status shows as 'Completed' this means that the payment successfully transferred to the receiver's PayPal account.
