Money not appearing in account

my friend sent me some money for a favour i did them to my paypal they sent me £5 to begin with and paypal sent me an email asking me to confirm my email to receive the money, so i did. about an hour later he sent me £70 with proof that he’d sent it, it hasn’t appeared on my account and i haven’t received and email saying that i have money waiting, it’s been about 12 hours since he sent the money. any ideas on how to fix this?

What does it say next to the transaction in your friends Paypal account?

1. Pending / Unclaimed.
2. Pending / Unclaimed with a cancel option.
3. Completed / Sent.
4. Pending / Uncleared.

ok then it sounds as if he sent using the friends/family option + funded it via his bank account, so its been sent as an eheque.

You should have an approx clearing date?
