Keeps asking me to "add a card"

My Paypal account is directly linked to my bank account but I am trying to make a purchase and it keeps saying "Add a Card" to complete this purchase.

Uh oh! This sounds like a security issue; we may be asking you to add a card as a backup payment method for your bank. Doing this adds protection to your payments in case there's ever an issue retrieving funds from your bank.
