So I was making an online transaction using paypal and the payement amount showed $440,16. I wanted to pay using my European bank account and although $440,16 converts to €397,43 the amount shown in euros on paypal is €413,5.
When you go on holiday and buy currency to take with you then you don't pay the 'rate to rate comparison' amount shown websites as the company that is getting the currency for you charges you a fee.
Same with paypal, they are converting currency for you so you get a lower rate amount as a fee.
