Is there a way to get paid of someone has Venmo?

Basically one of my buddies wanted to pay me using Venmo. Is that possible?

Seems like to me that Venmo is a payment method for commercial or goods and services payments to PayPal, rather than personal payments.

And the so called "merchant" has to have PayPal checkout integration in their app.

"Second, we also offer the ability to accept Venmo through PayPal’s online checkout process, where users can select the Venmo payment option after tapping the PayPal button. Please keep in mind that this option will not add a separate Venmo payment button on your website."

I wonder if "PayPal's online checkout process" includes PayPal invoices and button email links.
