International Payments to friends/family

I’m trying to send money to family in Australia. A few questions. What is the cheapest method for me to use? It was saying it will cost me $4.99 to send. When I select the US dollar amount, it shows the conversion rate and the amount they will receive in AUD. So if I want them to get $100, I should send $100 US or approx $74 US to equal approx $101 when they get it. I do see an option to send them US dollars, but how will that work on their end?
