Hi. Does anyone know why a potential customer would offer to pay me nearly double my asking price? I am asking $825.00 for an item & recieved an offer for $1600.00.??? The offer is said to expire in like 16hrs. is this for real? What's the catch? Is it possible they simply want it that bad? I've only sold oner other item on Ebay, ever... Someone please guide me straight here. What should I do? Thanks ahead of time... Oh, yea, there is no "Buy It Now Price" listed. Only auctioning the item starting at no lower than $825.00. First & only offer within 2 hours is this person offering to pay $1600.00. Are they trying to scam me?

SOUNDS LIKE THIS SCAM READ IT AND SEE......

SCAM.

They may buy on Ebay but they use an anonymous or hijacked Ebay account and do not have a Paypal account so they can't use Ebay checkout.

They encourage you to accept a 'direct' Paypal payment and may ask you to send the item internationally.
No funds or activity of the transaction shows in your Paypal account and any emails 'may' go into your junk/spam folders.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't because they don't actually have a Paypal account and have no intention of paying you.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.
They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal do not tell you to send trackable, they advise it for selling protection but it is not compulsory.
Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

There is also the 'shipping agent' or 'courier' scam where you again get fake paypal emails telling you that you have to pay that courier first by another payment processor (hence the scam) before funds are released to cover everything....you won't get anything.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
