How to make a donation or a monetary gift

hi folks,

I'm trying to support an artist by making a donation / monetary gift, but it looks like my donation

is being treated as payment for a product by paypal, and it seems that this causes only a portion of the money to be sent to the recipient.

How can I designate my payment as a donation?  Thanks in advance for your help!
