I'm sorry to hear that a received payment is missing.
Is the payment meant to be a payment for goods or services? If so, please take a look at this article about detecting fake emails, and check to see if the email was actually from PayPal.
If it was actually from PayPal, did the message say that you have to complete any steps to receive the payment, such as confirm your email address or accept the currency? You can log in to your account and complete those steps without following any links if you want to be cautious.
