Did paypal just steal $100 from me? Do they do this routinely? is Venmo better?

My friend sent me $100. I refunded it. Paypal took $100 out of my bank account. HOWEVER I NEVER ACCEPTED THAT MONEY AND NEVER RECEIVED IT. So now i am out $100.00. there appears to be no way to contact customer service. what the hell??

We'll only process a refund through your bank if you don't have enough in your PayPal balance to cover the refund. When viewing your activity, is it possible that you used the received funds to make other PayPal payments? Also, you can only refund a payment that you've accepted so if you did not accept the payment, then there would not have been an option to refund the payment. If things still aren't adding up, please visit the "Contact" page at the bottom of the PayPal website to contact PayPal customer service. You can also contact us by PM on Facebook or DM on Twitter.
