Confirm my email

My mate sent me some money across the ocean (lives in Ireland) and I had to make a PayPal. When I finished making it and told him to send the money, there was no money anywhere in my acc. I noticed the email saying I needed to confirm it, so I did and logged in but came up with an error that said "There was an error on our side" I left it alone for a couple hours but my mates money is still MIA bc of my email not being able to be confirmed... Any ideas or should I wait for the morning when PayPal customer service is open?
