Cancelled refund

I was issued a refund a few days ago, today i checked my paypal account and it says, refund cancelled. Why would this happen?

Sellers can refund via funds in their paypal balance or via an echeque from their bank account.

If when paypal go to transfer the funds for the refund from the sellers bank account there are not enough funds in it to complete the refund then it will fail.
