30 cent charge on refund?

A stranger sent me $85 with “Appointment” listed as the transaction. I hit refund and told them they sent this to the wrong person. But it looks like the refund amount had the fee automatically set to 30 cents more than the original PayPal fee. So am I just out that because a stranger mistook me for someone else? I’m concerned about fraud and about this happening again.

As it was a mistake on the senders part ie probably a typo mistake in the email address then you should have contacted them and asked that as it was their error could you do a part refund with them paying the fee, most would happily agree to that.
