why am i charged seller protection fees by pay pal as well as being charged by e bay on the sale

Seller protection is free.
However Ebay and Paypal are 2 totally separate companies.
You pay Ebay to list and sell your item and that fee is invoiced on a monthly basis.
You pay Paypal to be able to accept instant online payments (including from credit cards), that payment is deducted from your buyers payment and the rest credited to your paypal balance.
Advice is voluntary.
