Pending

I cancelled a payment that I sent to someone, and now the balance has "pending" so I can't transfer it back to my bank account.  Why is my own money pending, if I sent it and I cancelled it?  How do I get that removed?

When you cancel a payment those funds can't do a u-turn > they have to process through to paypal who will then either return them to your funding source (if you paid with a debit or credit card), or credit your paypal balance (if it was funded from your balance or instant bank transfer), but that takes a few days and sometimes up to a week.

Thanks for your quick response.  I'm not happy with the process, because the money "instantly" comes out - no delay.  Its not coming from an outside source, but the original sender from the original account.  At most it should be a day.  Again, thanks.  I guess I'll just have to wait for my own money.

Well it means nothing to me if you are happy or not, I just give you the facts as they are.

And no payments are NOT instant, paypal CREDITS the seller when you pay and then paypal takes the wait for the funds to transfer from your funding source ie bank account or card.

That can take up to a week as Paypal use the slowest transfer method (as its the cheapest) and its the reason they credit the seller in advance so there is no delay in the despatch of your item.

HOWEVER if you get a refund straight away then Paypals funds are returned back to them but you have to wait for your initial payment to complete through to Paypal and then it is credited back to you.

In other words Paypal are not able to refund you until your funds have transfered from your funding source.
