How can I prevent automatic payments being taken from my PayPal balance

Hi, I am sure this has been asked before but I cannot find it for want of looking.

I noticed that all my subscription payments are taken from my PayPal balance by default but I don't want that.  I want everything to default from my bank account but I cannot see any option to set this up other than for online purchases.  Can anyone please let me know if it is possible to stop auto-payments being taken from my balance?

Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments''. Then change the funding source.

It was staring me in the face the whole time and I managed to miss it each time I looked!
