checkout issue old look

Hello, my girlfriend is having issues with her website and paypal checkout. When a customer closes the checkout tab without paying, the item is immediately marked as sold out by the website. She has been talking to her website provider for 2 months and they are putting the blame on paypal.

We also think there might be an issue with the 2 factor authentication. When a customer is using a phone to checkout something goes wrong, the page close and the item is marked as sold out.

The paypal checkout looks old (old design) and I thought maybe it has to be updated somehow. 

There is clearly an issue with the paypal integration but we have no power over the code that is running on the website. 

Could anyone give us any advice what we can tell the provider so that they finally fix the issue. I'm not very familiar with the technical side of it, I’m afraid.
