Please note that we have extended the go live date for this until March 29th. Any questions related to updating the buttons and HTML basics related to this upgrade please post here.

================================

HI,

I received this email from PayPal..

Update your PayPal buttons before 18 January 2017

In January, we'll be upgrading the PayPal integration you're using, Website Payments Standard, to:

  • Let your customers check out in a click with One Touch™
  • Ensure your checkout is always mobile-optimised
  • Deliver a simpler checkout design that’s consistent across desktop and mobile

To ensure you can continue to process payments once these upgrades have taken place, please update your PayPal buttons by 18 January 2017.

What do you need to do?

We’ve identified problems with at least one of your PayPal buttons so please check all your existing buttons for invalid or incorrect data.

--

I've been testing my buttons to see if theres a problem, so far all working (still many to go)
If PayPal has identified a problem cant they also mention where and what it is since they discovered it?

I see the PayPal documentation but so far I cant see my mistake..

Any help or advice on this most welcome.. i.e further info on this email and how to troubleshoot this..

Anthony

Dear Forum!

We've got the same E-Mail from PayPal "Update your PayPal buttons before 18 January 2017", so hopefully it is correct to post our problem in this thread. If not please tell me, then i will open a new thread...

I am the webmaster of a webshop. We use a "Buy Now" button in our customers invoice E-Mails, so they can switch their payment method to PayPal if they want to.

Now we got the warning mail by PalPal, and i am not shure whats our problem.

This is a sample usage of our button:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick
business=info%40ourdomain.de
item_name=Ihr+Ersatzteil+Einkauf+bei+ourdomain
item_number=OID123456%20PayPal
amount=20.71
shipping=8.14
image_url=http://www.ourdomain.de/images/header_paypal.gif
notify_url=http://www.ourdomain.de/paypal_notify.pl
return=http://www.ourdomain.de/paypal_merci.pl
no_note=1
no_shipping=2
currency_code=EUR
lc=DE
address_override=1
first_name=myname
last_name=myname
address1=mystreet%201
address2=
city=mycity
zip=123456
country=

My thought, we don't have a SSL for the "notify_url" parameter...???

Is this the cause for the warning E-Mail?

Many many thanks to everyone,

Larsen

Hi,

Can you share a link to where I can test the button.

Thank you for helping us "MTS_Ciaran"!

The button is only visible after buying in our shop.

Here i made a similar version:

Pay via PayPal

If you want, you also can buy in our shop with a special name, for testing. Then we will cancel the order

Again thank you for helping us!!!

EDIT:

Oh, i can seee a different reply.

One time a new responsive PayPal page comes. One time the old one comes!

For clarification, we have two shops, it seems that one shop payment gets the new responsive PayPal page, the ohter shop gets the old page...

EDIT 2:

I guess is found my mistake. I missed to fill the "country=" parameter.

If "country" is empty the old, non responsive payment page comes!!!

Thank you so much MTS_Ciaran!

I could remove the leading spaces, tricky Perl programming language, haha!

Now we are ready for the coming PayPal update.

I copy-paste the issue here as it seems more appropriate:

Hi, we're having the same issue!

When I click the "Proceed to Paypal" button it starts with loading new checkout (hermes i think) but then it ends up on old,

Would you be so kind to check and advise, by clicking here?

Also, if I go back once I'm in the old Paypal page, and redo the "Proceed to Paypal", I end up in the new page.

Firefox and Chrome load old interface, while Opera and Edge load new one, and from Android phone, both Chrome and Firefox load the new interface.

Thanks a lot!

Hm, actually the issue is only reported for one of our sites.

So, for THIS site I got the warning email, but for THIS not, is it possible to have somebody check? So I would know where to look for issues, if they exist?

Thank you very much
