Refund sent to “Null”. Yet to see the funds

Hi everyone. Although I don’t have a merchant account setup but I feel folks here are more technical than the other general forum. Issue on hand is that a PayPal wallet user refunded me the funds I sent to him. PayPal automatically processed on my debit card and showed me transaction progress. From “ start to refund “ to “send to card” to “ send to null “. When it did send to card, on the card issuer side I didn’t see credit transaction but rather another debit transaction with pending authorization. It’s been 10 days and PayPal support has got me as monkey in the middle with no reasonable explaination of what’s going on. One thing which I saw odd was it says “ send to null” at the end of the progress bar. So my question is do anyone of you may have any idea what this is ? And if it’s the reason for my refund not getting settled. I am at complete loss here. In the past folks have submitted similar error but seems no one provided any solution. Thank you

Hello @webpsycho

Thank you for posting your question in the PayPal Help Community!

I completely understand your concern about the refund not credited to your card. When a refund is processed, the money will return to the original payment method. If the status of the refund shows as completed, it means that PayPal successfully processed the refund and it usually takes up to 5 business days for a refund to complete. Depending on the card company, it may take up to 30 days for the money to show up in your card.

If you see the status of the refund as canceled, it means that PayPal unable to get the funds from the seller to complete the refund. In such case, you have to contact the seller to get it initiated again. All information about refunds can be found here. If the issue doesn't come under these, please contact the support team to get this solved.

Hope this information helps,

Bindu
