Paypal refused to make a transaction for no good reason

The other day I payed for something only to surprisingly be informed that the transaction was being "processed for up to 72 hours" because Paypal thought it was suspicious. Just recently I got word that Paypal cancelled the transaction altogether and refunded me despite the fact that I've made multiple transactions with this seller before. The real kicker is that what I ordered is now no longer available. So now through no fault of my own I authorised a payment for something that I can no longer purchase. What's worse is that I didn't even have to make the transaction via Paypal and instead could have just simply done the transaction directly. Is there any way that I can prevent this from happening in the future or should I just refuse to use Paypal so that there is no way that I could run into this issue again.
