I have been using paypal hosted buttons on my website for years. It was working fine.
I use a html variable item_number on the button to pass some information.
Now the IPN is not passing the item_number value, sends it as null. It works sporadically (works when the person donating has a paypal account, fails when they use credit card).
This has happened two years back and i logged a ticket and paypal fixed some code on their end. This is the reference to the old case
