Legacy Button Depricated?

I've been with PayPal for 20 years, always use html (Legacy) buttons, never had a problem up until a couple of years ago when my sales went to more or less nothing overnight.
I still have zilch sales - maybe one or two a MONTH!!
I have the old Legacy buttons on my site, I'm still trying to find out why my oders are so few.
So now I read that the Buy Now & Add to Cart buttons are now depricated? Mine are hosted by PayPal and then copied & pasted into my website.
If I generate a new button I can still do it, PayPal lets me go ahead and create a new button, it pastes on my webpage, BUT if it's now depricated, does anyone see it? There's no sign saying I can't make Legacy buttons anymore. I'm confused, help me if you can - please?

We are having the exact same issue for at least a week.  Have multiple cases open.  Paypal support has responded that they have depreciated payment via credit card with the standard buttons without sending out any notification.

They have recommended smart buttons but those are extremely buggy and I cannot get them to work on Mobile. Have a ticket on that one also. Lastly, the smart buttons do not provide nearly the functionality of the standard buttons! No inventory or item management. It is a mess!   They have basically cut off existing customers who have used those standard buttons without issue for a decade  with no notice and no options.

PayPal are definitely making it harder all round, their lack of knowledge as to how their system works is incredible. Developers are left to find things out by themselves, I find the 'techie' response time is unacceptable and sometimes, after waiting days for an answer, I get a link to a page that I'd already found! My struggle for a definite answer as to the life left of the Legacy Button continues - thank you for replying.

Hi @SteveStuartDJ / @compbob ,

Thank you for contacting PayPal community.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Yes, "PayPal Payments StandardLegacy integration method is deprecated but merchants can still integrate this product and process payments. This should be an issue with the customer/buyer funding source. Please request the customers/buyers to try different/valid card details while processing the payments.

"PayPal Payments StandardLegacy integration : https://developer.paypal.com/api/nvp-soap/paypal-payments-standard/integration-guide/pps-integration...

But, we recommend merchants to integrated our latest "PayPal Checkout(Smart button)" product.

(Or)

Login PayPal.com >> go to direct link "https://www.paypal.com/buttons/" >> follow the above steps

Please contact your website developer or the support of your third party platform(eCommerce) who should be able to help you add the latest Smart button code on your website.

Thank you for your detailed response sir, this has been the reply I've been waiting for.
Your reply also makes sense where returning customers can get through and new ones can't.
I will now set to work on the details that you've so kindly taken the time and patience with.

Regards, Steve

Thank you Chiranjeevi/CompBob,I have started the long process of swopping all 90 of my shopping pages accross to the Smarty buttons.
One more thing that you could shed some light on please?
I noticed that on the Smart buttons there's no PayPal cart, is there such a thing as a shopping cart for Smart?
Thanks again, Steve

So no response to that question I have too. "no PayPal cart"

In the newer system where is the equivilent Add-to-cart button as buyers want to browse and add like on most websites not go to the basket and checkout for every single item, then get a P&P for for each one, and when buying one item they wanted they might then not bother doing a continue to browse. Look like the small hobbyists business is being dropped while those who can afford expert paid help will get to work with the new updated versions after 23 years I too am getting frustrated that we are being forced into something we probably cant easily switch to.

The videos explaining the background is nothing like the simple html copy and paste we have been doing all these years.

References to "JavaScript SDK integration" just isnt something easy to grasp while all these years I could hand code a simple html page and with some php and script.

I am experiencing the same problem. System that has been working securely and suitably for decades, making developers' and clients' usability so friendly now replaced with complicated and buggy code that just don't work. Response time from PayPal for any support is so unreal. As a developer, I might not use PayPal in my future projects or encourage customers to use it on their website. This been a reputation damage for so many developers.

There are many of us who feel just ignored in the push to offer our customers, yes they are OURS not Paypal, the credit option of pay in 3, when I am against offering or encouragaing credit, particularly on small iytems of less than £50, when they can just use their own credit card via Paypal anyway, and we will have lost the add-tocart option it would seem as I cant see anywhere in the smart buttons where that is discussed.

My buyers click around like you do amny other online stores and continue shopping so they have just one P&P fee at the end.
