Hello,

can anyone help, please. I have an iPhone5 currently using iOS8.

I cannot get Blue-Tooth connection between phone and card reader, anything I may be doing wrong? I had no problems with my iPhone4 and older softwares.

Thank you.

Hi glc123,

Welcome to the community!

Is your Bluetooth picking up on other devices or are you just not seeing the card reader option?

Once you have turned on Bluetooth on your phone here's what you need to do to pair it with the reader:

  1. Turn on the card reader. A green light will blink followed by the Bluetooth light. This process may take a few seconds. If the card reader is on, but all the lights are off, press any key to wake it up.
  2. Select the card reader from the list of available Bluetooth devices. From now on, your card reader will auto-connect to the app whenever you turn it on.

Let us know how you get on!

Hello Siobhán,

yes, I've done that. The little wheel just keeps on spinning!

Had no problems with my i4, i5-iOS8 just doesn't want to know.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi glc123,

Ok, happy to escalate this however firstly can you try resetting the reader, here's how:

  1.  Locate the small opening next to the power button on the Chip & PIN card reader.
  2.  Insert a pin into this opening and hold it until you see the green triangle flash 8 times and one asterisk sign lit up. This indicates that the device has undergone a factory reset.
  3.  Once the Bluetooth light starts blinking, pair the card reader to your smartphone or iPad and open the PayPal Here app.
  4.  Complete any initialisation or updates if the App prompts you to. We recommend that you complete this step using a WiFi connection and with the card reader connected to a power source.
  5.  Once the card reader has been initialised and the software update has been completed (if needed), the card reader is ready to be used for payments.

If you continue to experience problems please let us know!

Hello Siobhan,

brilliant advice. My phone has found the card reader all happy now, except! The PPHere app has gone, is it a simple download to restore? Just being lazy here, but thought I'd ask.

Many thanks for all your help.

Hi MyfKnott,

Sorry to hear this, apologies for the delayed response.

What phone are you using? Have you tried to remove and re-install the app?
