Buyers address scam

Hi everyone,

I posted an item on Gumtree, and straightaway I received an email from a couple of people. One of them was clearly a scam, as it was funny written and it looked suspicious. The other one was more normal. I looked the name on internet and everything looked fine, no reports under that name etc. This person asked me to post the item to a different address, and as I'm new on PayPal I agreed.
When he sent the payment, I didn't see the address registered, and I just sent the item to the address he asked me to do.

Of course, a couple of days later he escalated a complain into a claim as he's declaring he didn't receive the item.

I guess I'm not covered anymore by sellers protection, although I provided the whole conversation with the buyer to PayPal asking me to send it to a diferent address.

Does anyone have had the same experience? What was the outcome? What do you suggest?

Thanks.
