I have accidently gone overdue on my first payment. I was expecting PayPal to automatically take the payment. I have now been charged twelve pounds extra this month. Is the extra charge just for this month or does that now apply every month even if I pay on time.

Its just a late fee for that month, it can have a certain impact on your minimum payment if the payment allocation terms are similar to the US version of PayPal Credit.
Please read the PayPal Credit Agreement and SECCI for info on payment allocation.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
