I☹️ think as a landlord collecting rent that a 3% service charge is ridiculous. And a week for a check to clear also.

PayPal is providing you a service to receive money so they charge for it. eChecks like paper checks always take a some days to clear. Funds don't fly through the wifi. Perhaps splitting the fee with the renter as a convenience fee. Or pay with a paper check or money order and it's free to deposit at bank branch.
