Is there a way to save money on international purchases using paypal. For example if I put money in my account vs use my credit card, is there a smaller percentage charged?

The fees are dependent are which funding source you are using to complete the payment, which provider (PayPal or your bank) you choose to complete the currency conversion, and cross border fees may be applied, depending on which country you are sending money to.
