Today I received this email :Action required: Confirm your info to keep a PayPal Balance
Within the email it states to confirm my identity in that email or log into PayPal and click on notifications and proceed. I didn't follow the email's link but went to my own PayPal log in and there was no notifications to confirm my information. Is this spam? I hope I haven't introduced a virus to my computer just by opening the email!!
If this is spam maybe it's a good idea for PayPal to create an official notification.
Please advise. Thank you

Paypal does provide notification, you can click and read about spoof emails on their website.
But they can't provide you with a notification of a spoof that they are unaware of as it wasn't done using their site.
If its a spoof, DO NOT USE ANY LINK.
Firstly if the email/ text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.
Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email link to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.
If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.
