received an email obviously a scam.

The automated lady at PayPal said not to open the email, but I would not have learned it was a scam if I had not been able to read it and see all the typos and all the grammar errors! I knew not to click on the link, so I guess I did okay. I am worried that I opened my computer to something bad by opening the email at all.  The automated message at the real PayPal said to forward the fake message. I tried that twice. Thunderbird refused to forward as it claimed there was spam content.

All I really want to know right now is whether I compromised my computer by merely opening the fake email.

Do a virus and malware check on your computer to see.
