Hello all,

I am selling an unknown party an item through the facebook market place. She is sending me the money via paypal and then I will ship her the item.

The payment came in an email with the email address "<removed>." I am wondering if this is anything to be concerned with?

Why did the payment not come from paypal.com directly?

Besides the email address everything else seems normal. The email contains the paypal logo as well as payment details. The email says that I just send the tracking information back and then the money will be released into my paypal account.

Any information is greatly appreaciated. Thank you!

SCAM.

They encourage you to accept a 'direct' Paypal payment and may ask you to send the item internationally.
No funds or activity of the transaction shows in your Paypal account and any emails 'may' go into your junk or spam folders.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't because they don't actually have a Paypal account and have no intention of paying you.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.
They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal do not tell you to send trackable, they advise it for selling protection but it is not compulsory.
Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Hi mschmidlin1,

Welcome to the PayPal community and thank you for you post.

This sounds like a scam.

I would advise you not to send anything until you receive the payment into your account, and to send the item to the address PayPal supplied to you.
