If I pay through paypal from a credit card, is it treated as a cash advance and subject to interest charges as a cash advance or is it a "purchase"?

Hello @christine61,
Thanks for reaching out! Normally, this depends on what you're purchasing and how your bank / credit card company classifies that purchase. Most items purchased with your credit card are going to be considered a regular purchase. I'd recommend reaching out to your credit card company to see what they would consider a cash advance.
Have a great day!
