Text message paypal restricted?

Hi all. I am a newbie so hope i am doing everything correct. I am concerned. I have received a text message saying my paypal is restricted and i have 12h to confirm information on my account or my account will be closed. It has a link for me to follow also. Now i am not daft and know there are scams but what threw me was that my mobile number is linked to my paypal (a code is sent to my mobile to access account) but i have checked on line on a pc at work and my account is fine?? Plus who would be daft enough to use their own mobile number to send me the text. Normally texts from paypal come up in my contacts as paypal and this one didn't. Just curious if anyone else has had this and should/would i report it and to who?

If its a spoof, DO NOT USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/ text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email link to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.
