Text Scams

Hello, I have received a text message from PPALERTS saying "your account is currently under review please complete the security form to avoid restrictions. pay-pal.online-support.org.uk which I ignored.  I received the same text the next day but this time the address was pay-pal.online-restrictions.net.  I think this is a scam ,as I believe it is pay pal.com.

Any one else had these text messages please?

I’ve had exactly the same. PP please confirm these are not from you would be helpful. Also very difficult to find anywhere in the resolution centre or the security section to query this as it’s mostly transaction based.

Paypal rarely respond as this is a 'user to user' community advice forum, however............

If its a spoof, DO NOT USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/ text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email link to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

Come on....why don't you just check your account. If it was under review it would say it in there. It isn't hard working these things out.

I got this text too. I just checked my account and nothing was there. The links on that link don’t work either so quite clearly a scam but a lot of people could fall for it as it looks quite legit. Seems PayPal have confirmed it’s not from them either.

I had the same issue and couldnt block the annoying texts as no number listed with the text , just PPALERTS found a workaround for android using message blocking using key phrases here<removed> Cheers
