Strange Paypal money request.

I received a Paypal Money request for 50 USD for a USA Photographic Studios, the transaction number and job title were quoted.

I have no knowledge of this transaction as a UK resident, its obviously a mistake.

The email was not addressed to me by name, but by the email address.

What makes it even stranger, is that the email was sent to an email address I use, but which is not registered with Paypal.

This request does not show on my Paypal account.

Do I just ignore it as a mistake or a scam, or in some way ask Paypal if there is an account registered with another email address that I use ?

Spam/phish/spoof email.

Thanks for the swift response.

I had already sent a copy of the email to the "spoof" Paypal address and received two standard responses, one thanked me for the email I sent and the other thanked me for the "suspicious website" information I had sent.

Neither response made me feel satisfied that much would happen.

I wondered whether the Community had any similar experiences.

Paypal probably receive thousands of spoof emails forwarded to them on a daily basis.

They use them to improve security and don't give individual replies to every person that forwards them.
