Scam Mail?

I've just received an email from <bleep> saying my PayPal account was suspended due to suspicious access from Canada. Which is true that it wasn't me. and needed me to click a link to "verify my account details". It says that if I don't verify in 24 hours my account will be permanently suspended. Is this legitimate? I didn't seem to have trouble logging in. Now my balance is of 0$ but since I haven't used my account in months I don't know if it was always 0$. My list of activities in this account appears blank, but I have made payments in the past. Now I'm scared someone did use my account, but neither trust the mail is legitimate. I have lots of questions, my last question is for a possible list of email addresses that I can trust from PayPal, since I've been receiving A LOT of scamming mail from different addresses pretending to be PayPal.

Yep sounds like a typical spoof so NEVER USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.
