Safest way to make a PayPal transaction?

Hi there,

I apologize in advance as I've done some searching in the forums already but haven't come across exactly what I'm looking for. I am planning to make a purchase for some online services. What steps can I take to make sure I am covered if I end up getting scammed? I am assuming take lots of screen shots and save chat logs etc. And then what can I do if I do end up getting scammed?

Screenshots and chat logs are pretty much a waste of time, your best bet is to...........

Read up on Paypals buyer protection policy and then risk assess your transactions.
